Language Arts - Students have read The Watson's Go To Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis. Most students have enjoyed this book. After the Thanksgiving holiday the students will begin researching a decade of history. This will be a group project with each person responsible for a certain part. (ie. sports, music, inventions, etc.)
Math - We have been learning about median, upper and lower quartiles, upper and lower extremes. The students have made posters to show what they know about these terms. Ask your student to draw a picture to show you what they know.
Science - Right now science is all about rocks and minerals. If you want to refresh your memory you might want to check out this great website: http://www.teachers.ash.org.au/jmresources/rocks/links.html
Social Studies - The students have been studying about the constitution.

Language Arts - Students have completed essays on their summer vacation experiences. They have started taking the Benchmark Assessment in Reading. These will be scored by the district. We expect to have the results in a few weeks.
Math - Students are learning about the order of operations. In other words when you are solving a math problem that has more than 1 operation (add, subtract, multiply or divide), which one do you do first? Student will also be taking a Benchmark Assessment in Math. These Benchmark Assessments will be given 4 times this school year.
Social Studies - Culture has been the focus, especially what are the factors that make up a culture?
Science - Biotic or Abiotic (Living or Non-living) Ask your student to explain the difference to you.
